Sarah's House is owned by Opening Doors of Ohio, Inc. Using the highly successful model of a family/home-based ministry of biblical discipleship, we have engaged a full-time married couple as Resident Directors (house parents). We can serve up to 3 young women (18 - 21) at a time as they transition from Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility to the Franklin County community.
Restoring Relationships ♥ Releasing Laughter
And Sarah declared,"God has brought me laughter! All who hear about this will laugh with me."(Genesis 21:6)
The expected term of residency is anticipated to be between 12 - 18 months for each young woman. During this time, our goal will be to provide mandatory program services and other supportive services which address concerns such as education, employment and family reunification. The Resident Directors will be working hand-in-hand with DYS Parole to ensure that each woman fulfills her post release supervision obligations established by Parole. When a woman completes her residency at Sarah's House our support for her will continue with Stand In The Gap -- a group mentoring model with a minimum of a one-year commitment. A leadership team is in place and is in the process of developing programs and procedures, including the house covenant that will govern the stay for each young woman.
